Good Morning May 12th, 2017

Was a beautiful morning to be outside.  One of the last before we hit triple digits and it becomes too hot to be out much after dawn.  Played with a Nikon D7200 and Nikon Auto 55mm f1.2 lens.  It is an oldie but very good.

Good Morning Sunday March 19th, 2017

What a beautiful morning.  The only distraction was the Cochise County Sheriff’s Helicopter flying maybe 150 feet above the house.  It feels so good to be outside now.  It won’t be much longer until it will be too hot to get out around 10 AM.

Playing with Lights, Bokeh, Depth of Field at Anthem

Heloise and I were out at Anthem shopping for some clothes for her to wear to work so I took advantage and took some pictures.  We were going to try and take a few snaps of the December Super Moon.  Check out some of the bokeh and lights at Anthem!

December 12th, 2016 Super Moon Shots

Heloise and I took some interesting shots of the December Super Moon, but with all the haze it isn’t as sharp as it could be. Later after we got home from Anthem the moon looked like it had cut through the haze and blasted a hole to shine through. I have never seen anything like this, leave a comment if you know the technical name for it.

November 14th, 2016 Super Moon

The Tamron 150-600mm G1 lens is simply amazing.  Such great results time after time.  Never a focusing issue, snaps to focus like it has ESP to know what you want.  I also am amazed by the stabilization provided by Tamron’s VC.  I was able to get acceptably sharp pics using the D7200 in the 1.3x crop mode (which gives a 1.95 total crop) all the way down to 1/100th sec hand held.  That is really amazing.  That is at almost 1200mm field of view at that crop mode.

Going to 1/200th sharpens a bit more and 1/400th almost every image is tack sharp.  With VC off I have to be at 1/1000th or higher to get tack sharp images.

The moon started out an orange red color, turning to bright yellow, and as it moved above the horizon became closer to the soft silver we love about it.
