Nikon AE-CHIP Overview

A quick overview of how Nikon AE Chip’s work and demonstration. If you are interested in picking up an AE Chip to add to your lens please use the link below. The small affiliate commission will help me make other content. I normally advise buying at your local store but I have never found any that carry these chips. Amazon at the time of this posting didn’t carry them either. So at the moment eBay seems the only place to get them. https://ebay.to/2xomrpw

Driving home Heloise and I noticed the moon on the horizon looking impressive. Threw the Tamron 150-600 G1 on the Nikon D7200 and managed to capture this image with the camera set to ISO 100, 1/200th, F8. I even captured some incredibly sharp images using just a mono-pod all the way down to 1/60th of a second.  Truly awesome how useful the Tamron VC is!

Good Morning January 31st, 2018

2018 Blue Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse!  The moon was busy this morning.  It had the duty of being the second full moon of January, a Super Moon,  and a Blood Moon.  Unfortunately their was a lot of haze when snapping the pictures this morning so the moon is a bit softer as the eclipse progressed.

Good Morning October 6th 2017 – Harvest Moon

Last night was the harvest moon.  It was a gorgeous balmy night around 92* (33c) in Phoenix when Heloise and I were outside to take this shot around 9:45pm.

I tried a few different settings from this one of the first taken with the Nikon D7200 and Tamron 150-600 G1 lens at 1.3x crop / f6.3 / 600mm / ISO 100 / At 1/640th sec with VR turned on.  To F8 at 1000th of a sec with VR turned off.  They almost all looked identical.  Even dropped the focal length to 500 to see if we might coax a bit more sharpness, but nothing discernible.  All were taken with remote shutter release on 2 second delay.

In my opinion there was just too much haze in the sky.  It would have been great to get out of Phoenix to some Dark Skies that don’t suffer from such nasty pollution.  Heloise was required to work later though so we were not able to get out.
